About Us

Our Process

From the first phone call to the final stages of construction, our process is designed to be seamless and straightforward.

  • Every project begins with a conversation. In our first call or meeting, we listen closely to your ideas and goals for the project. The earlier we are involved, the more opportunity we have to shape a smooth and successful experience.

Whether you already have an architect or designer or are just beginning the process, we can help guide the next steps based on your style, budget, and timeline. We have worked with many architects and designers throughout the Southeast.

  • With Schmidt & Satterfield as your builder, we take your plans and refine them through the lens of our experience. The most successful projects begin with thoughtful discussions around details and decisions early in the process.

These conversations allow us to establish a clear scope of work and develop an accurate estimate. During this phase, we also walk you through each stage of the building process so expectations remain clear from the start.

  • This is the fun part. Every home we build is fully custom and reflects the goals and style of each homeowner. With more than 100 projects completed, our team is experienced in managing complex details while keeping the process organized and transparent.

From custom marble countertops and sinks to handmade light fixtures sourced from the UK, we bring thoughtful details to life to create homes that are truly one of a kind.

  • Born and raised in Wetumpka, Alabama, I was introduced to the construction industry at a young age. From sweeping houses in high school to internships with construction companies in college, I knew I wanted to be a contractor early on.

I attended Auburn University, where I studied Science of Building Construction. I worked for 6 years in Atlanta for two large General Contractors. The last few years I've branched out and started working for myself in Athens.

Now, I'm glad to have found someone that shares some of the same passions as myself to help start and grow a great construction company of our own. I love working outside and taking two dimensional plans and bringing them to real 3D shape. One of my favorite things about construction is that no project is ever the same and presents a new challenge everyday. Overcoming those challenges and delivering beautiful projects is what keeps me going.

  • Growing up in Athens, Georgia, I always knew I wanted to be a business owner. When I graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in Building Construction, the building industry was far from thriving. With the industry’s climate, I took my first job sweeping construction sites and picking up trash. I truly believed that a strong work ethic would take me far.

Today, I am the co-owner of Schmidt and Satterfield, and my family and I still get to call Athens home. In every project I complete, whether that is for someone else or within my own home, I want to look back at it and know I did it to the best of my ability. I look forward to living out my passion of building homes and relationships with our clients.
